Engineering
AI / ML Engineer
Take machine learning past the notebook — evaluation, monitoring and the production plumbing that makes a model trustworthy.
- Full-time
- Fort Worth, TX / Remote
About the role
Most of this work is not modelling. It is understanding a business process well enough to know whether a model helps, then building the evaluation and monitoring that make the answer trustworthy once it is live.
You will spend real time with clients. Part of the job is telling people that the AI project they asked for is not the one they need — which is easier to do well when you understand what they were actually trying to achieve.
What we look for
Scepticism. We want someone who asks how the training labels were produced and what happens when the model is wrong, before asking which architecture to use.
How to apply
Email info@theaifoundry.net with a note about a model you shipped and how you knew it was working.
Note: this is a sample role listing used to build out the careers section. Verify it reflects an actual opening before launch.
What you'd be doing
- Build and evaluate models for client problems across several industries
- Design retrieval-augmented systems over client data with grounded citations
- Set up evaluation harnesses and drift monitoring for deployed models
- Advise clients honestly on when machine learning is the wrong tool
What we're looking for
- 3+ years applied machine learning in production settings
- Strong Python, with PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Practical experience with LLM applications, RAG and evaluation
- Understanding of MLOps — versioning, monitoring, reproducibility
- Able to explain what a model can and cannot be relied on to do
Meeting most but not all of these is fine. If the role sounds like you, apply and tell us which parts you'd be learning.
